SUMMARY THE REASONS, EXPECTATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS TO BE SUPERVISOR _ FOR SUPERVISORS AND LEVEL OF MEETING OF THESE Key Words: Supervisor, supervision, profession, requirement, expectation. In this re'search, it has been tried to determine the reason to be supervisor working for Republic of Turkey The Ministry of National Education, and level of meeting their expectation and requirements according to their priorities. In addition, it has been examined that variants such as sex, age, education level, title and lenght of service, whether differentiate the requirements and expectations in terms of their importance level in meaningful way or not. The questionnarie developed for this research, has beeb applied to primary school supervisors in Bolu, Elazığ, Adıyaman, Sakarya, Kastamonu, Kocaeli, Zonguldak, Diyarbakır, Batman, Tokat, İğdır, Afyon and Düzce provinces, and to 50 ministry supervisors who work in Ankara region. Only 241 questionnaires have been delivered by primary school supervisors, and 230 numbers of them have evaluated as valid. Only 9 questionnaries have been delivered by ministry supervisors, 7 numbers of them have evaluated as valid. The questionnaries delivered by ministry supervisors have not included to the analysis because of being in unsufficient numbers. Research data has been analysed in computer by SPSS system. In analysing data, percentage and frequency values, arithmetic average, t-tests, one way variance analysis and Scheffe test techniques have been used. The reasons to be supervisor for supervisors, are expectations and requirements, according to their priorities, progress-improvement possibilities, leadership-managership expectations, meeting high degree requirements, meeting basic requirements, external qualities of the profession and internal qualities of the profession. For supervisors getting levels of these reasons, expectations and requirements, from the highest ones to the lowest ones, are leadership-managership expectations, meeting high degree requirements, external qualities of the profession, internal qualities of the profession, progres-improvement possibilities and meeting basic requirements. The reason to be supervisor, their requirements and expectations in terms of their importance level and level of being met, differentiate in a meaningful way, according to the variants such as sex, age, education level, title and lenght of service.
