Abstract (EN)
This study focuses on the concept of Carl Schmitt's sovereignty. Schmitt's understanding of sovereignty is based on the praise of authority in conservative thinking and Jean Bodin's conceptualization of absolute sovereignty. Conservative thoughts and values were evaluated around Burke and Maistre's thoughts. The criteria of Bodin's absolute sovereignty have been examined. The understanding of Schmitt's sovereignty, too, the concept of law, democracy and authority. It was also a criticism of modern state and liberalism at the same time. Neo-conservatism has become an area, where in the direction of Schmitt's criticism about modern state, closer to conservatism and liberalism. In the end, a portrait of neo-conservatism, which is a new form of conservatism, includes market's values of liberalism and conservative authority together.
