Abstract (EN)
The Koqand Khanate that broke up from the Buhara Emirate in 1709 to conduct independent policies and ruled as centred in the Fergana Valley until the Russian occupation in 1876 reached its highest borders at the beginning of the XIX. century. Our study covers the Muhammed Ali Khan era (1822-1842) in which he expanded the borders of the khanate by battling against Manchus, Russians and the Buhara Khanate. Despite insufficient data in sources, in our thesis we aimed to reveal the biography of Muhammed Ali Khan. Combining of an introduction and four chapters, in our thesis' introduction part we gave place to presentation of the main sources used in thesis and distribution of clans effective in the Fergana region. In the first chapter; we presented the situation of the states around the Koqand Khanate in 1822 and additionally by explaining the Umer Khan era (1810-1822), Muhammed Ali Khan's father, we aimed to reflect which kind of a state Muhammed Ali Khan took over and in what political conditions he ascended the throne. In the second chapter; we studied Muhammed Ali Khan's own prince period and marriages, being the ruler and the changes he made in the state official, and the world of Koqand literature during the period of Muhammad Ali Han have been investigated in this chapter. In the third chapter; we studied Muhammed Ali Khan's military campaigns and established diplomatic relations. In the four chapter; we investigated struggles between the Koqand Khanate and the Buhara Emirate and background behind this. We studied the massacre of Muhammed Ali Han and his family as a consequence of the struggle between two states and following events. In the process of preparing our thesis, we benefited mainly from the Hokand chronicles. We tried to use primary and secondary main sources with a great care. By criticising various data in the Hokand chronicles we cared to present these data to readers objectively.
