Abstract (EN)

Molla Abdurrahman Câmî (d. 898/1492) was a renowned sufi and poet who grew up in Iran. He influenced Turkish literature with his deep Sufism and graceful style, leaving a lasting impact on both Iranian and Ottoman intellectual circles through his works in nearly every genre of poetry and prose. Câmî's sufi biographical work, Nefehâtü'l-Üns min Hadarâti'l-Kuds, sparked considerable excitement in the Islamic world and gained significant recognition. This study examines the 17th-century Ottoman translation of Molla Abdurrahman Câmî's Persian sufi work, Nefehâtü'l-Üns min Hadarâti'l-Kuds, by Mohammad b. Hussein. This second Turkish translation, created after Lâmiî Çelebi (d. 938/1532)'s version in Anatolia, was produced within the framework of classical translation and was not given a separate title by the translator, but was simply referred to as Translation of Nefehâtü'l-Üns min Hadarâti'l-Kuds. This study consists of an introduction, three main sections, and a conclusion. The introduction discusses Molla Cami's Nefehâtü'l-Üns, the process of its composition, its origin, the commentaries written on it, its translations into different languages, and especially the studies conducted on its Turkish translations. The first chapter provides information about the translator Mohammad b. Hussein's life, his known works, and his motivation for translating Nefehâtü'l-Üns. The second chapter is devoted to the analysis of Translation of Nefehâtü'l-Üns. In this section, the work is first evaluated in terms of content, followed by a comparison with other translations. In addition, the work is examined in detail from various aspects such as style, vocabulary, selective narration, and rhymed passages. The third section is devoted to the translated text, preceded by an explanation of the method followed in preparing the text and notes added to the text. In addition, a selected glossary has been added to assist the reader. In the conclusion of the study, the findings are evaluated, and the place of Mohammad b. Hussein's translation in Turkish literature and the tradition of translation are attempted to be revealed.
