Muhîtu't-Tecvîd work of Muhammed Salih Tanribuyruğu(Review-text)

Tanrıbuyruğu, who lived in the last period of the Ottoman Empire, was born in Konak district of Izmir, memorized the Qur'an at a young age and studied religious sciences. He later studied recitation, under some leading scholars of the period. Salih Efendi was appointed to the Kestanepazarı Mosque as Imam-Hatip when he was only eighteen years old, and he also educated students in the Qur'an Course. Tanrıbuyruğu wrote his book Muhîtu't-Tecvîd with his knowledge of tecvid and recitation. In the introduction part of his work, which is the subject of the book, he mentioned the definition of tajweed, its ruling, the virtue of learning the Qur'ân, the imams of recitation, and the preference of the narration of Hafs, the second narrator of Imam Asim. Afterwards, the author dealt with the subjects of tajvid in a plain language. In the warnings section of the work, the words imâle, ismâm, teshîl, sâd and sîn read, the provision of the prostration verses, sekte, hâ-i sekt and foundation; In the section of useful information, it has dealt with issues such as istiâze-besmele, waqf and vasl, which are read differently, lahn and the methods in the Qur'ânic recitation. In the last part of the aforementioned book, the work is completed by explaining the pronunciation and the foundation of the letters.
