Factors affecting accounting professionals' choice of career: The case of Turkey

Özet (EN)

In this study, it is aimed to examine the factors affecting career choices of professional accountants. For this purpose , a survey study has been conducted using simple random sampling method to 1925 independent accounting professionals on a total number of 53218 certified public accountants (CPA) and sworn-in CPA's registered in professional chamber. The data obtained through the survey study were analyzed using the SPSS 20 program. Methods of Frequency Analysis, Independent-Samples T-Test and One-Way ANOVA (analysis of variance) applied to obtained data. In line with the purpose and problematic of the research, 28 hypotheses were prepared related to four descriptive variables about seven dimensions, which are thought to have an impact on the career choice of the accounting professionals. As a result of the research, 10 hypotheses were accepted and 18 hypotheses were rejected.
