Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to document the response of a selected group of students to theaudio-visual presentation of literary works in a multimedia environment. The study attemptsto identify the key elements of students' learning experience such as acquisition of literaryknowledge gained through the study of stage play literature by audio-visual text format andobservation. Furthermore, the study aims to reveal the balance between cognitive andaffective learning concerning facts and emotions.Data were collected through interviews with Pre-intermediate level students. Interviewresults were compared to document the students' feelings and ideas on learning experiences ina multimedia environment. The audio-visual presentation of stage play literature wascombined with discussion of themes, plot and character development in which the studentswere asked to summarize and reflect on their experience. Furthermore, students were alsogiven post-tests comprising 3 brief essay questions in which they were asked specificquestions about the thematic content of the works.The main results of the study revealed that students improved their learning experiencein target language through the audio-visual materials, as they were able to transfer knowledgereinforced through context learning in audio and visual media.Key Words: Multimodal Learning, Multimedia Environment, Knowledge Construction
