Abstract (EN)
Aims: It is known that MS has slowing of cognitive processing, and difficulties in executive functions such as inhibition, planning or attention control. It is known that neural networks related to executive functions are also involved in the regulation of emotions. In this study, emotion regulation difficulties were investigated in MS patients. Materials and Methods: This study was conducted in 52 MS patients and 52 healthy volunteers. The data of the patients and volunteers were collected with Sociodemographic Data Form, MS Data Form, Clinical Global Follow-up Scale and Emotional Difficulty Scale. Statistical analyzes were performed with SPSS version 16.0. Results: There was no significant difference between MS patients and controls in terms of age, gender and other sociodemographic characteristics. The total score of Emotion Difficulty Scale and the subscale of Emotion Difficulty Scale were significantly higher in MS patients. Conclusion: The total score of Emotion Difficulty Scale and the Emotion Difficulty Scale subscale scores were found to be significantly higher in the MS patient group than the control group, indicating that there was more emotion regulation difficulty in MS.
