Abstract (EN)

Vitamin D is a steroid pro-hormone that is produced in the skin as a result of exposure to UV-B, is fat-soluble and has immunomodulatory properties by affecting immune cells. In this study, it was aimed to evaluate the relationship between systemic involvement and 25-OH vitamin D level in patients with a diagnosis of Multisystemic inflammatory syndrome (MIS-C). This retrospective study was conducted with 34 patients diagnosed with MIS-C. The mean age of the cases was 7.03±3.9 years, 52.9% (n=18) were male and 47.1% (n=16) were female. Gastrointestinal system involvement (58.8%; n=20), cardiac involvement (64.7%; n=22), neurological involvement (23.5%; n=8) were found in the cases. Average 25-OH vitamin D levels; 15.7 (IQR= 18) ng/mL was found in patients with gastrointestinal system involvement, 16.8 (IQR=17) ng/mL in patients with cardiac involvement, and 12 (IQR= 8) ng/mL in patients with neurological system involvement. There was no statistically significant difference between the systemic involvement of the cases and their 25-OH vitamin D levels. (p values, respectively; (p= 0.779), (p= 0.957), (p=0.144).) 25-OH vitamin D levels of the cases and age When the relationship between the two was evaluated, a negative correlation was found. (r=-0.414; p=0.015) When the relationship between 25-OH vitamin D levels and fibrinogen in patients diagnosed with MIS-C was evaluated, a negative correlation was found. (r=-0.414; p=0.015) As a result, the mean of 25-OH vitamin D levels in cases diagnosed with MIS-C was found to be at the level of insufficiency. It was thought that prophylactic vitamin D should be administered in children. When the relationship between system involvement and vitamin D was examined, no significant difference was found.
