Abstract (EN)
While the energy generated during an earthquake reduces ground movements (vibration) in hard and compact soils, porous and stratified soils can also increase the effect of the earthquake. Therefore, ground properties are one of the important factors in measuring and reducing the damage that may occur with earthquakes. Muş city center and its immediate surroundings are located close to important structures that can produce both tectonic and volcanic earthquakes. The city center, where population and construction are concentrated, is located on materials such as sand and clay, which are developed on a cone of sediment carried by rain and flood waters. In the city center, which is located on medium-hard soil properties, construction should be carried out in a controlled manner, taking into account neighborhood-based soil characteristics in response to a possible earthquake hazard.
