Abstract (EN)
In the high-tech world we live in today, using heavy concrete in nuclear plants, x-ray rooms and shelters that can be used during probable nuclear attacks is exceedingly important. Heavy concretes made of barite aggregates that has a higher density than normal aggregates are used to prevent x-rays and other neutron rays attain human body with it?s impermeable structure. In this case; the effects of barite obtained from Muş, on the mechanical and physical characteristics of concrete, leading the radiation permeability, is studied. In the light of experiment results, it is concluded that; concretes produced combined with different percentage of barite aggregates obtained from Muş city can be used making heavy concrete. Turkish Standarts are used in the process of experiments. Keywords: Barite, Heavy Concrete, Radiation Sheathing
