Abstract (EN)
August 2019, 185 Pages The Upper Tigris Region, which is located in the buffer zone between Central and Eastern Anatolian cultures and Syria and Mesopotamian cultures in terms of their location, is an important settlement that contain the effects of the north and south region cultures. The situation mentioned above generally had a positive effect on the settlements in terms of cultural diversity, sometimes it had a negative effect on the formation of a deep culture because of the authority gaps and complexities in the settlements which were exposed to border struggles between the big state formations in the north and south. A similar political situation mentioned above can be seen in the first half of B.C. 2nd millennium in the Upper Tigris Region. There were small states founded by Hurrian originated resident or semi-nomadic communities who were following tribal traditions in the region without strong state authority in B.C. 2nd millennium. In the second half of B.C. 2nd millenum, the region witnessed the struggle for sovereignty among Hittite Empire, Mitanni Kingdom and Assyrian State. In this thesis, we tried to monitor the impacts of the authority gaps and political conflicts of B.C. 2nd millennium which are summarized above, on the architectural structuring of the settlements in the region especially in Muslumantepe. In this thesis, the settlement texture, socio-cultural and socio-economic structure in urban and rural areas are tried to be clarified in a holistic way.
