The folkloric elements in the stories of Mustafa Çiftci

Culture is the greatest heritage created by the people in the historical and social process and transmitted from generation to generation. Writers have a great role in the transmission, documentation and preservation of cultural elements. Considering the influence of tradition on modern literature, it is seen that Mustafa Çiftci, as a writer fed from the provinces, has written stories rich in anthropological, folkloric and sociological elements. In this study, the elements of folk literature and folklore in the stories of Mustafa Çiftci, one of the valuable and important writers of Turkish literature, are analysed. Sedat Veyis Örnek's classification on folklore cadres was taken as a basis for the analysis. It is aimed to determine how folk literature and folklore elements are used and how often they are used in Mustafa Çiftci's forty-five stories in his four books titled "Adem'in Kekliği ve Chopin", "Bozkırda Altmışaltı", "Ah Mercimeğim" and "Ağlaya Ağlaya Öldüğük Anam Bacım". The information in the study was obtained through documentation and fiche technique. In the first part, Mustafa Çiftci's life, art and works are discussed and summaries of the stories examined in the study are given. In order to make a more detailed analysis, folk literature elements and folklore elements in the stories are given as separate sections. In the conclusion section, the findings obtained as a result of the examination of folk culture elements were evaluated. With this study, in which the detected data were analysed by descriptive analysis method, a relationship was established between the works of Mustafa Çiftci, who tries to describe the provincial people, and folklore.
