Searching the effects of conflict resolution styles and assertiveness levels on 4th and 5th class students in primary school of negotiation (problem solution) and mediation education program

In this study, the effect of ?Negotiation (Problem Solution) and Mediation? education program to conflict solution styles and assertiveness levels of primary school 4th and 5th class students is investigated.There is not a universe and sample of this research, and also ?experiment and control group? as a study group owing to using of ?pretest and posttest with control group design, quasi experimental design?. Experiment and control group of this research is consist of 4th and 5th class students who are educating in 3 Primary Schools that are bound to İzmir city and in a sub-socio-economic level.In the solution of students? conflict solution styles, ?Conflict Solution Skills Scale? which is developed by ?Sarı (2005) is used, and also ?Assertiveness Scale? which is developed by Topukçu (1982) is used in the solution of assertiveness levels. ?Individual Data Form? is used to gather demographic data which is related with students.In the analyses of gathered data, ?Paired Sample T Test?, ?Independent T test?, ?One Factor and two Factors ANCOVA are used.As a result of this study, it?s seen that; Primary School 5th class students? who are educated in this ?Negotiation (Problem Solution) and Mediation? education program creative and positive conflict solution skills are improved, the usage of reaction types like subversive behavior, domination, withdrawing, ignoring, indifference; there is not any statistical difference between comparison of differentiation scores but assertiveness behavior levels of 4th and 5th class experiment group students are improved and express themselves better.Key Words : Conflict, conflict resolution, negotiation, mediation, assertiveness, skill.
