Abstract (EN)

Music therapy is an auxiliary treatment method that has been studied for many years and has been proven to have positive effects on emotions and thoughts as well as positive effects on various disorders. While the positive effects of this method in various areas have been observed worldwide, it has also been revealed by many studies in our country that it has positive results on different variables. Both music experts and health experts have conducted many studies on the music therapy method and the results have generally been positive. However, when the relevant literature is examined, it has been seen that there is no study on the music therapy method and no course process in the music education process of undergraduate students receiving vocational music education. This situation was deemed worthy of investigation and it was thought that it would be meaningful and important to conduct a study on the use of the music therapy method by obtaining the opinions of undergraduate students and faculty members studying in units providing vocational music education. In this study, mixed method was used and data were collected through questionnaire and interview techniques. The research was conducted with a total of 310 people and consisted of 300 undergraduate students and 10 faculty members. Online and face-to-face, 30 opinion questions and 10 knowledge questions were asked to students, and 6 open-ended opinion questions were asked to faculty members, and they were asked to provide their opinions. As a result of the research, it was concluded that undergraduate students were thinking of taking a course on music therapy, that despite being curious and sensitive about this subject, there were no courses with music therapy content, that health experts generally conducted studies on music therapy, and that music therapy experts did not conduct sufficient studies in institutions providing vocational music education. In line with these results, suggestions were made such as providing opportunities for the training of experts so that students can learn about music therapy and increasing the awareness of music therapy at the academic level by working together with health experts and music experts.
