Abstract (EN)

This research is aimed to understand and determine whether there is a relation between the level of knowledge and self-efficacy of prospective music teachers on Turkish Makam music through descriptive and correlation models. Participants were selected as senior students which have been studying at various Turkish universities. Data were collected by developed test for the level of knowledge in Turkish makam music and Turkish Makam Music Self Efficacy Scale. Results were gathered through Pearson correlation\ Indepentent Samples T-Test and ANOVA statistical methods. Accordingly, The Turkish Makam music knowledge of participants were ahead of the curve. Also, while participants THM knowledge were ahead of the curve, the TSM knowledge of participants were relatively lower. In line this thesis findings, it is also enunciable that this study provide an insight to the Turkish music studies that is under prolifiration process as a nationalisation ideology in education institutions.
