Transfer of piano course instructors'musical field knowledge to their courses who are working at the music teacher education programmes:A university sample

In this study, it was aimed at determining the views of piano courseintstructors working at the Undergraduate Programs of Music Teacher Educationupon transferring music field knowledge to piano courses, how they apply music fieldknowledge to course preprationand plans, the levels of transferring during the courseand the methods of transferring.This study was conducted with the instructors whose field of interest waspiano education at the Undergraduate Programs of Music Teacher Education at auniversity chosen among the Northwest Anatolian cities. In order to obtain data,narrative interview was conducted with the instructors, qualiatative content analysisof lesson plans was applied and piano courses were observed.At the end of the study, it was found that instructors believed that theknowledge of History of Music, Form and Poliphony which are among the branchesof music should be transferred to the piano courses. However, it was determined thatthey did not associate the music field knowledge with piano courses while planningthe courses and the level of transferring the knowledge in appliacation was found as?None?. Moreover, it was found that they used general learning-teaching methodsand techniques in transferring this knowledge.Key Words: Piano Course; Transferring; Music FieldKnowledge; History of Music; Form and Polyphony.
