The effect of on vital signs of patients in surgical intensive care unit

The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of musicotherapy on vital signs of patients in surgical intensive care unit.This research was studied as a quasi-experimental research and was conducted Inonu University Turgut Ozal Medical Center General Surgery Intensive Care Unit (ICU). The study population consisted of patients who were hospitalized in ICU over the past 24 hours, staying at least one day in the ICU, who accepted to participate in the study, over 18 years of age and who had a level of consciousness 5 or higher according to Glasgow Coma Scoring System. The sample have been collected from 202 patients that hopizalized at TOTM general surgery ICU after power anyleyzed .Patient identification forms and the registration forms containing vital signs before and after intervention were used for data collection. Patient identification forms before musicotherapy and registration forms indicating vital signs before the intervention(pulse, systolic and diastolic blood pressure, oxygen saturation values) were applied on day 2 after admission to general surgery ICU. Then registration forms applied to patients after musicotherapy which was indicating vital signs after intervention. The data were evaluated with descriptive statistics and paired t test.Pulse pressures, systolic and diastolic blood pressures which were high before musicotherapy decreased after musicotherapy and low oxygen saturations were elevated after musicotherapy.
