Abstract (EN)

In this research, 29 children's songs were written and composed in order to be used in the teaching of each sound in the activities of sensing, recognizing and distinguishing the sound in the classroom during the elementary reading and writing teaching teaching process and reading and writing activities as well as for students to feel, recognize, distinguish, read and write the sound to be taught better. It is aimed to determine the effects of these songs on the learning levels of the students, their reading rate, writing rate, comprehension rate and ability to express their opinions on a subject by using these songs in the elementary reading and writing teaching. The research was carried out with 43 students as the experimental (24) and the control (19) group in a middle socioeconomic primary school in Eskişehir. Embedded mixed method design was used in the research. While the quantitative dimension of the research was created by the unequalized control group model; The reading and writing skills of the students were observed for 4 months. During the observation, researcher diaries were included. When the experimental and control groups became literate, their reading and writing rates was measured. An average of 40% difference was observed in the reading skills of the students in favor of the experimental group, and an average of 34% in the writing skills between the two groups; There was a difference of 15 words in reading rates and 34 words in writing rates. In addition, an increase was observed in the musical skills and positive attitudes of the experimental group students towards the elementary reading and writing teaching.
