Impact of musical creative drama education on self confidence of preschool children

Abstract (EN)

In this research, it was aimed to investigate the effect of having musical creative drama education on self-confidence of preschool children. Research was carried out with four- and five-years old children having education at Çorum Güneş Kreş in academic year of 2019-2020. 25 students at the age of four and 25 students at the age of five, 50 students in total have been studied. Data of the research were obtained by Günalp self-confidence observation test which is generally applied to preschool children. At the end of the 10 weeks of test period, the effect of musical creative drama education on self-confidence of preschool children was examined. SPSS 23 package program was used to analyze the data of self-confidence status before and after musical creative drama education. As a result of the research, it was observed that musical creative drama studies generated a significant self-confidence improvement for students. For self-confidence improvements of children, the factors of gender, hometown, the number of individuals living at students' home, the status of mother and father, the number of siblings, the number of children in the family, the economic conditions of the family, the age of starting school, the person who looks after the child before starting school and the education level and occupation of mother and father did not create significant difference. Self-confidence improvement was affected significantly by ages of children. It was determined that musical creative drama education had a positive effect on self-confidence of preschool children.
