Abstract (EN)

With internet technology, there has been a great transformation in music and copyrights. The purpose of this thesis is to analyze aforesaid transformative impact which has already become an actual problem, and to provide a broad perspective about the subject matter. In this study, the copyrights in the historical process are discussed in terms of music and their economic and social reflections are discussed. Firstly, the concept of intellectual property has been examined from a sociological and economic perspective. In addition, the changes that intellectual property has experienced in different geographies in the historical process are mentioned. The current legal status of intellectual property rights is an important part of this study. For this reason, at the end of the first chapter, the law of digitized music, financial rights and ownership of the works are discussed. In addition, the economic reflections of copyrights were examined in detail and the intellectual economies and the music industry were analyzed. The pirate economy has been studied with the political economy of music and alternative license models against copyright have been presented. In terms of the integrity of the study, the opinions of experts in the field were included in the subject. Key words: intellectual property, copyrights, music, license, pirate economy
