Abstract (EN)
Novels and stories evolved from verbal expression to written expression in the history of western literature. We can see that the western type novels and stories started to influence Turkish literature in early 19th century. These novels and stories serving as a follow-up for verbal expression unveil the existence of interaction between folklore and literature. The thesis called "Comparative Analysis for Folk Culture Reflections" in Writings Named "Poor Lisa" by N. M. Karamzin and "Sergüzeşt" by Sami Paşazade Sezai" recite to reflect the interaction between folkore and literature which occurred at the end of 18th century in Russian literature having a long standing history in western literature, and the interaction between literature and folklore dominated Turkish literature in 19th century. A comparative analysis for two important writings, a long story called "Poor Lisa" and a novel called "Sergüzeşt" was used to reflect these interactions. We intend to useone of the methods in comparative literature called writing related review method to compare the works. When making the comparison the elements of folk culture were discoursed in writings called "Poor Lisa" and "Sergüzeşt" which were created in different eras and in different cultures. In this manner it was intended to expose the existence of cultural interaction between two different communities. Of course these comparisons were not performed to prove that one of the writings is superior or better than the other one and they do not serve for a purpose as such. This kind of situation is against to comparative literature, too. Interaction between folklore and literature that forms the substance of our study also provides to observe folkloric evolution for two different cultures through scientific and systematic studies. For this purpose folkloric studies in 18th century which N. M. Karamzin lived in, and interaction between literature and folklore in this era will be presented. Also theinteraction between 19th century Tanzimat reform era literature which Sami PaşazadeSezai lived in and folklore will be presented along with chronological information in our study. Determination process related to the existence of folkloric culture elements which involved in both writings that form our study, reflection of traditional verbal and written literature to writings, and comparative analysis for similar elements of both culturewere performed based on the texts in writings. The purpose of this study is to serve for both folklore and comparative literature by comparing how two great authors reflected their own folklore culture via two important writings which were engrossed in different languages and by comparing two writings that set an example for interaction between folklore and literature.
