Nâkâm's Mecnûn u Leylî Masnavi (Contextual index and functional dictionary)

Classical Turkish literature, which has an ancient tradition of approximately six centuries, is a great cultural heritage with thousands of works containing literary, social and cultural elements. Divan poetry, which has an important place in our literature, started from the 13th century and continued until the 19th century, leaving a legacy of different and voluminous works to our literature. These works are important for understanding Turkish Culture and history. This study, in which we focus on İsmail Nâkâm's work called Mecnûn u Leylî Mesnevi, consists of three stages after the introduction. In the introduction, which is divided into two headings, information is given about the political and social landscape of the 18th century and divan literature in the 18th century. The first part is called "İsmail Nâkâm" and in this part the author's life, literary personality and works are included. The couplets in the author's work are given as they appear in the mesnevi and these couplets are explained. The second part is called "İsmail Nâkâm's Mecnûn u Leylî Mesnevi". Under this heading, language and form features, meter and formulaic expressions are discussed. The most voluminous part of our study, the Third Chapter, is the section titled "Dictionary", where the method followed in creating the functional dictionary containing the contextual index of the masnavi is explained. In this section, subheadings are discussed alphabetically. In this section, the index and dictionary are made available for use within the scope of the TEBDİZ project. Functional dictionaries and contextual indexes are materials that facilitate the understanding of classical Turkish literature texts. In this study, a contextual index and functional dictionary of Nâkâm's "Mecnûn u Leylî Mesnevî", whose Review-Critical Text-Dictionary-Imprint text was published by Assoc. Dr. Serkan TÜRKOĞLU, was made within the scope of the TEBDİZ project. The meanings of the words and word groups in the Mesnevi are given with their context in alphabetical order, and explanations are given for the necessary words and concepts along with the meaning of the word.
