Abstract (EN)
With the increase in urbanization and industrialization, environmental concerns are increasing. When this situation is combined with the ever-increasing energy demand, the importance of studies to increase energy efficiency in technological fields has become more evident. Sustainable technologies consume less energy and the interest in nano-sized materials is steadily increasing in order to overcome the negativities such as environmental sustainability, energy efficiency and environmental pollution. The addition of metal oxide-based nanostructures with high thermal conductivity to fluids allows the development of their properties. In addition to the thermal performance of nanofluids, they also attract attention with their anti-corrosion potential. In this context, when used in sustainable and smart city systems, they can contribute to environmental impacts by reducing energy consumption. Within the scope of this thesis, various nano metal oxides were synthesized and their structures were characterized by X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD), Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) spectroscopy. In addition, their morphology was analyzed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Then, nanofluids were prepared by adding synthesized nano metal oxides at different ratios by weight to the base fluid based on stimulated cooling water. The electrochemical properties of the obtained nanofluids were investigated and their applicability as value-added products in sustainable and smart cities was evaluated.
