Abstract (EN)

In this study, nonlinear wave propagation in nanorods was investigated using nonlocal elasticity theory. In the formulations, field equations based on Eringen's nonlocal elasticity theory were used. The equations of motion are written in terms of material coordinates and the nonlinear equations of the nanorod are obtained according to the nonlocal elasticity theory. The rod material is treated as single-walled carbon nanotube (SWCNT) in the study. By solving the field equations, Korteweg de Vries (KdV) equation was obtained as the evolution equation governing the wave propagation of the nanorod. The solitary wave solutions of the equation characterizing the propagation of the carbon nanorod are given depending on the nonlocal parameter and elastic medium parameter and how the nonlocal parameter and elastic medium parameter affect the wave profile are shown.
