MOLECULAR AND NANOSCALE DEVICES INNANOELECTRONICS(M.Sc. Thesis)Beyza ALCANGAZI UNIVERSITYINSTITUTE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGYJanuary 2006ABSTRACTRecently, Micron-scale or microelectronic device will be replaced with newdesigns for devices that use of the quantum mechanical effects that dominate onthe much smaller, nanometer scale. We can examine in two broad areas ofnanoelectronic devices. That is Solid-state quantum-effect nanoelectronicdevices and molecular electronic devices. Over the past several years, therehave been many significant advances toward the realization of logic designs onthe molecular scale. Also, I has been researched the types of materials that willbe useful for understanding of the molecular devices and their properties. It hasbeen demonstrated that different molecules could serve as incomprehensiblytiny switches, wires, transistors, rectifiers and storage devices one million timessmaller than those on conventional silicon microchip. The purpose of this reviewis to provide a general introduction to molecular and nano scale materials anddevices in electronics.Science Code : 626.04.01Key Words : Nanotecnology, Nanoelectronics, Molecular Electronics,Quantum Mechanical Effects, Carbon Nano Tubes,Molecular WiresPage Number : 90Adviser : Assist.
