The relationship between narcissist leadership and organizational citizenship behavior: An application in catering firms in ankara

For the companies operating in the service sector, the most important capital is the employees. Therefore, the positive performance of employee behaviors within the organization is necessary for the success and continuity of the enterprises. At this point, optional non-compulsory behaviors defined as organizational citizenship behaviors gain importance. Researchers, who carry out studies on the subject, argue that many things affect the organizational citizenship behaviors of employees. One of them is leadership. Therefore, it is possible to come across research that examines the relationship between various leadership types and behaviors and organizational citizenship behaviors. However, no research has been found on the relationship between narcissistic leadership and organizational citizenship behaviors. The aim of this study is to investigate whether there is a relationship between narcissistic leadership and organizational citizenship behavior. It also examines whether employees perceptions of narcissistic leadership and organizational citizenship behaviors differ according to demographic variables. In order to reach the aim of the study, a quantitative study was performed and data were collected from 324 employees working in catering establishments in Ankara. SPSS and AMOS statistical programs were used for data analysis. The findings of the study showed that there was a low level of significant relationship between narcissistic leadership and employees organizational citizenship behavior. In addition, as a result of the difference tests, it was found that the employees perceptions of narcissistic leadership differ significantly according to their age, education and departmental characteristics; It was concluded that organizational citizenship behaviors differ significantly according to their departments.
