Cohesion in Nazan Bekiroğlu's novel named "Nar Ağacı" and anaylses of the vocabulary used within the scope of cohesion

Cohesion is one of the primary criteria of text which is accepted as as structure in which intralinguistic and extralinguistic components are dealt with together and the communication scope is also included. In this study, reaching a comprehensive classification of the cohesion elements with reference to Nazan Bekiroğlu's novel named "Nar Ağacı" has been aimed of. In the essay made by taking present classifications into consideration as well, it has been seen that the components which make up intra text structure can bear differences according to the ytpe of text. That Data related to lexical cohesion which is a component of cohesion can be a source of language wage elements which can reveal both a part of the discourse of the author and her connection with other authors with the same point of view is the (argument) thesis of this study. In the introduction section in general terms data abaut the chapters of the study have been given and an overview made. The first chapter is the part in which concepts which constitute the basis for the study are introduced. The notions of text and discourse the scope of the text linguistics, cohesion elements which estoblish intratext structure have been dealth with in this chapter. In the second chapter "Nar Ağacı" has been summarized and the classification which has been established through the cohesion elements determined in the novel have been presented in the syllabus. Each cohesion element has been sampled and they have been presented in charts. The third part consist of a dictionary of text establishing words. In this part definitions prepared by the text scope on the basis of the personal language usage of the author with reference to words related to one another in terms of meaning and which are situated in the lexical cohesion section have been tried to be explained. In the conclusion chapter in the light of data obtained in relation to cohesion elements, findings aiming at the classification and naming of elements have been mentioned and evaluations related to elements whose counting were made have been given. That the meanings atiributed to the words within the scope of the text are a reflection of the author has been put forward. Keywords: Text, discourse, word, lexical cohesion.
