Abstract (EN)
In the decisions taken within the framework of sustainable environment and natural resource management, it is very important to observe and evaluate vegetation changes to explain the relationships between human activities and natural processes. In biophysically similar areas, the effects of anthropogenic and natural processes on plants make difference in the spatial and temporal distribution of natural habitat, ecosystem composition and productivity within the area. To define the changes that take place in an area only with field study is very difficult. In this study, the characteristic features of vegetation cover using GIS and Remote Sensing technologies were determined and vegetation changes due to human and natural processes were investigated spatially and temporally. The study covers Karaburun peninsula. Histogram based evaluation was applied to identify the characteristics of the plants. The transformations of biological and anthropogenic processes in the study area have been investigated by using change analysis of the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index values generated from LANDSAT satellite images.
