Abstract (EN)
In this study of thesis, the nematic-isotrpic phase transition at the nematic liquid crystal-wall interface has been investigated by using an extended version of Maier-Saupe mean-field model. To this end, the temperature dependence of long-range order parameter and specific heat was studied by adding the quadrupol-dipole interaction term into the interaction potential. The obtained results were compared with the experimental data and it was shown that the theoretical results are in better agreement with experiments than those of Maier-Saupe model.
