Abstract (EN)
The purpose of this study, the security policies of the Red-Green coalition government, which came to power for the first time in Germany in 1998, are examined from the point of view of Neo-Realist and Neo-Liberal institutionalism. During the period when the Red-Green coalition government was in power, extraordinary developments such as the Kosovo War, the September 11 Terrorist Attacks, the Afghanistan War and the Iraq War occurred, which deeply affected the world. It is examined how these events affect the Transatlantic structure that Germany has been following for a long time. As a conclusion of the research, Red-Green Coalition government's sending troops to Kosovo as a cross-border operation and to Afghanistan as a result of 9/11 the terrorist attacks, its opposition against U.S. policy in Iraq War suggest a shift in foreign and security policies. Despite the fact that the Red-Green coalition government felt the pressure of shifting security challenges, it has been a strong manifest that German security identity's moving away itself from the dictates of neo-Liberal institutionalism would never be realistic.
