Abstract (EN)

In the present study, the aim was to determine the probable alterations in coagulation profilein neonatal calves and to those of detecting relationship between inflammation (enteritis)andcoagulation parameters A total of 78 (64 diseasedand 14 healthy) calves, of severalbreed, ageand of bothsexes, tothose of nontreatedpreviouslybyVeterinarysurgeons, wereenrolled. Firstly, thoroughly by Bovid solid-phase immunocromatographic method rapid test results were enrolled into 3 major groups, whereas mono-infected 4 groups, co-infected 1 group and non-infected 1 group were subclassified. Related cases were subdivided into major groups (n=7 in each), I. group (E. coliinfected ), II.group (Rotavirus -infected), III. group (Cryptosporidium sp. infected), IV. group (Giardia sp. infected), V. group (non-infected ), VI. group (co-infected) including sick calves, whereas healthy calves left as control were enrolled in group VII (n=14). At physical examination, depending on the acute or chronic nature of diarrhea, variable levels of dehydration, fecal consistency, color and smell of stool, heart frequency rate, respiratory rate, sucking reflex, and some differences in body temperature were found. It was detected that the feces of infected calves was pasteous liquid. The feces generally characterized by light yellow -yellow color depending on etiology,as grey-white/grey brownincalves with giardiasis, yellow pasteous in cryptosporidiosis infected cases, and bloody stool in diarrheic calves with E.coli. Among evaluation of 3 major groups regarding mean PT levelsthere was statically difference (p=0.026) between healthy and infected diarrheic calves, whereasthere was no statically difference between healthy and infected the calves with diarrhea. Mean APTT levels presentedno statistical difference among groups. Mean FIB levels revealed differences (p=0.051) between healthy and infected diarrheic calves in terms of statistics. In the current study, as the each groups was evaluated as in terms of the average of PT level, revealed statically difference between co-infected group and non-infected group (p=0.042) and also it standed out that there was statically difference between healthy calves and the diarrheic calves with Cryptosporidiosis (p=0.012).. In conclusion, it may be suggested that inco-infected calves with diarrhea PT values, in diarrheic calves infected with cryptosporidiosis FIB values should be analyzed. Especially, at field conditions, the veterinarians should consider that in cases which haemostatic or coagulation profiles might not be not evaluated, hyperfibrinogenemiamayexist, as a consequlenonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug choices might be taken into account.
