Judaism with its religious, cultural, ideological beliefs and practices in Netflix series: The case of Fauda

In the digitalizing world, movies and series are now brought to the audience mostly through digital channels such as Netflix. Films, which already have a great impact on society, have increased their current effect even more with easy access of audience to them thanks to these channels. On this occasion, it is clear that media, cinema and TV series do not act solely for reasons such as entertaining or having a good time. Religions are in the area of interest of producers, scenarists and directors much more. Producers and directors continue to make religions the subject of films in order to introduce their images to the world, to acquire new followers, to impose their ideologies, and to represent their beliefs and attitudes. In this way, especially in recent years, movies and TV series produced in Israel have come into prominence. There are some TV series on Netflix making Judaism the focal point. Fauda contains important representational elements in terms of Arab/Muslim-Jewish dialogue. Jews' beliefs, worship, ideology, identity, cultural structures, lifestyles and relationships with others are conspicuously represented in the Fauda series. The Fauda series centers on ethnic and political elements rather than the belief system and puts a team under the spotlight that struggled in the direction designed by Judaism. Reaching a large audience in Türkiye and Arab countries, the series is at an important point in terms of image building of Judaism and therefore the state of Israel. These topics constitute the center of the study.
