Nevşehir region healing centers

Healing centers, which are a branch of folk medicine, have an important place in Turkish folk culture. In Turkish societies, the hearths, which are believed to be sacred and have healing power, try to treat patients with traditional methods and various medicines they prepare, and are known by the name of the disease they cure. These hearths and their practices, whose roots extend to Central Asia, have continued to be functional in treatment throughout history, although they have changed and developed over time. In Turkish society, healing centers and practices bearing the traces of old Turkish beliefs continue to exist in Nevşehir, as in many parts of Anatolia. Each society has different beliefs and attitudes about disease and health. In this context, people with health problems in Nevşehir apply to hearths for various reasons. As a result of this compilation study, Nevşehir treatment centers and their applications were discussed and evaluated in detail, based on the data obtained from the source persons. Revealing, recording and examining the cultural heritage in the Nevşehir region and transferring it to future generations is important in terms of intangible cultural heritage. The study consists of four parts. In the first chapter, the concept of folk medicine, Turkish folk medicine and healers in Turkish folk medicine are discussed and the literature is stated. In the second chapter, information is given about the concept of hearth, the characteristics of treatment hearths, the diseases treated and treatment methods and techniques. In the third part of the study, based on the information obtained from the field, the hearths and their applications that have the power to cure the same disease detected in Nevşehir were collected under a common heading. In the fourth chapter, the characteristics of treatment centers, diseases and treatment practices are evaluated. In the conclusion section, a general evaluation of the findings was made and in the light of this information, it was concluded that the hearth culture continues to live in Nevşehir.
