Nihal Yeğinobalı’nın Romanlarında Kadın Problemi

In this work, the novels of Nihal Yeğinobalı, which are Genç Kızlar (1950), Mazi Kalbimde Bir Yaradır (1987), Sitem (1997), Belki Defne (2005), Gazel (2007), have been examined in terms of women personalities and problems related to women. In her novels, Yeğinobalı, who has not been well-known among famous contemporary novelist, gives more importance to female characters than male ones. Additionally, the number of women characters are more than men ones. In the novels, women seem to be passionate and concious in terms of sexuality. They are also brave and fearless against sexual taboos. Therefore, erotism and sexuality take significant place in her books. By doing so, Yeğinobalı has opportunity to mention about some social moral issues. Extreme importance to virginity, considering women as sexual objects, sexual harassments and rapes, cheated women, as well as childlessness are the main problematical topics analyzed in Yeğinobalı's novels.
