The Quranic heritage in the Republic of Niger: Historical study

This study aims to delineate the state of classical and modern Quranic studies in the Republic of Niger from the introduction of Islam to the present day. It explores how the people of Niger pursue the study of the Quran and its sciences, as well as the teaching methods employed to educate their children. The research elucidates changes in Quranic education and teaching in the Niger region following the period of French colonization. It underscores the efforts of certain Nigerien scholars in disseminating the Quran and its sciences, highlighting their written works, books, and educational centers dedicated to Quranic studies. Additionally, the study delves into the current landscape of Quranic education in Niger, addressing curriculum and study plans. It also emphasizes the initiatives of organizations striving to regulate Quranic education in Niger and highlights the services they offer in this context. The researcher articulates noteworthy findings from this research journey and provides recommendations aimed at contributing to the advancement of Quranic studies in the Republic of Niger.
