Abstract (EN)

The nickel, bismuth, nickel-bismuth (galvanostatically and chemically) and nickel-bismuth-zinc coatings with various chemical compositions were deposited on the copper electrode in view of their possible applications as electrocatalytic materials for the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) in alkaline solution. The characterization was achieved with cyclic voltammetry (CV), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX). The HER activity of coatings was tested with the help of potentiodynamic measurements and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy techniques. Furthermore, over potential values in the electrolysis system and hydrogen gas volumes at 3 V potential during 30 minutes were determined. The results show that, Cu/NiBiZn-3 decrease polarization resistance and over potential, increase the HER activity.Key Words: Hydrogen, Bismuth, Electrocatalysis, Electrolysis.
