Abstract (EN)

Aim: The aim of this study to determine the effect of using virtual glasses on anxiety, stress and fetal well-being during non-stress testing. Material and Method: The study was carried out in a randomized controlled manner with pregnant women who underwent NST procedure in the Obstetrics and Gynecology Polyclinics of Elazig Fethi Sekin City Hospital between October 2021 and February 2022. Personal Information Form, NST Registration Form, NUPDQ-RV, STAI were used to collect data. When the power analysis was performed, the sample size was calculated as 71 pregnant women for each group (71 experimental group, 71 control group). During the NST procedure, the experimental group watched videos containing nature scenes with virtual glasses. No intervention was applied to the control group during the NST. Descriptive statistics and dependent-independent t-test were used in the analysis of the data. Results: After the intervention, it was determined that the mean STAI scores of the pregnants in the experimental group were lower than those in the control group, and the difference between the groups was statistically significant in favor of the experimental group (p<0.001). It was determined that the mean NUPDQ-RV scores of the pregnant women in the experimental group were lower than those in the control group, and the difference between the groups was statistically significant (p<0.001). In addition, it was determined that the number of accelerations of the pregnant women in the experimental group was higher than the pregnant women in the control group and the difference between the groups was statistically significant (p<0.05). Conclusion: This research's findings indicated that the use of virtual glasses during the non-stress test reduced anxiety and stress levels and increased fetal well-being. Key Words: Anxiety, fetal well-being, non-stress test, stress, virtual glasses
