Abstract (EN)
Scientific and technological developments facilitated human life significantly. However, some adverse effects are experienced with the devalopment of technology. Environment pollution is one of the main consequences of this development. Environment pollution may have adverse effects on all creatures including human beings. All living organisms are exposed to artificial chemicals in their daily life. These substances may be chemicals such as natural chemicals in food, pesticides, food additives, cosmetics, medicine and also complex compounds such as cigarette smoke, water and air pollutants. In general, mutagenicity and toxic effects of the compounds present in these chemicals are remained to be obscured. Among these are bisphenol A and nonylphenol. Ames mutagen test, used to detect mutagenicity of the chemical substances, is one of the best standardized methods in terms of test parameters. With this test pre-scanning of mutagenicity and corresponding suspected carcinogenic effects of numerous chemicals is possible. In this study, mutagenicity of bisphenol A and nonylphenol is examined by Ames/Salmonella/Microsome Test method. Mutagenicity of various doses of test substances with S9 (metabolic activated) or without S9 (non-metabolic activation) has been investigated in the TA98 and TA100 strains of Salmonella typhimirium. As a result, nontoxic 100 µg/ plaque, 10 µg/ plaque, 1 µg/ plaque, 0,1 µg/ plaque doses were used with and without S9 in the experiments in both substances and mutagenicity was discovered in the experiments performed in both strains.Keywords: Nonylphenol, Bisphenol A, Ames/Salmonella/Microsome Test, Salmonella typhimirim, mutagenicity
