Tutkish validity and reliabilty study of self-efficacy regarding vaginal birth scale

Objective: In our study, it was aimed to adapt the ''Self-Efficacy Regarding Vaginal Birth Scale"developed by Chu et al. (2017) to Turkish culture and to examine its psychometric properties. Method: Our research was carried out in methodological type. The sample group consisted of primiparous pregnant women who fulfilled the research criteria and agreed to participate in the study. After obtaining required permissions from the ethics committee and institutions for the research data collection; ''Self-Efficacy Regarding Vaginal Birth Scale'' and the questionnaire form prepared by the researchers were used.The study was conducted with primiparous women who applied to Tokat State Hospital between October-December 2019.To evaluate the data, Jamovi (Version 1.0.7), JASP (version 0.11.1) ve Jöreskog, K. G. (2001). LISREL 8.50. Mooresville, Ind. :Scientific Software program were used. Findings:In order to implement the language validity of the scale, back translation method was used. In order to ensure content validity, Content Validity Ratio (CVR) scores of the opinions of 11 experts were examined. Factor analysis was performed to determine the construct validity.The scale consists of a single dimension similar to the original form.Cronbach's alpha coefficient was calculated to determine the reliability of the scale. The Cronbach alpha coefficient was 0.994 for the second trimester, 0.956 for the third trimester and 0.980 for the overall scale.Test-retest reliability was calculated in order to evaluate the invariance of the scale against time and it was found to be 0.982.In order to evaluate the extent to which the scale items serve their purpose, item analysis was conducted and it was determined that all items measured according to their purpose. Conclusion: It was determined that the Turkish version of the 'Self-Efficacy Regarding Vaginal Birth Scalewas a valid and reliable measurement tool and could be used in other studies to be conducted.
