A LIGHT MICROSCOPIC STUDY OF THE BLOOD CELLS AND BLOOD COUNTING IN INTACT AND UV-IRRADIATED Spalax leucodon (RODENTIA: SPALACIDAE) (M. Sc. Thesis) SELÂMI CANDAN GAZİ UNIVERSITY INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY SEPTEMBER - 1990 ABSTRACT In this study, it has been determined blood cells counting, hemoglobin amount and hematocrit volues in normal and irradiated SJeucodon. The results obtained from normal and irradiated animals have been compared. After U.V. irradiation of 52, 112 and 168 hours, it has been observed a decrease in leucocyte number and hematocrit values of animals, in respect of unirradiated ones. Hemoglobin amount and erytrocyt number was nearly normal level. It has been taken micrographs of smear samples from normal and irradiated animals. In leucocytes of irradiated animals by U.V. nuc leus and cytoplasm aberation have been observed. 11
