Abstract (EN)
Introduction: Epilepsy is a diseases that is family history, etiological risk factors, clinical findings, seizure types, central imaging and EGGs, routine blood tests and neurological examinations. With this study, it is aimed to emphasize the medical approach that can be applied before treatment by creating a neurological approach protocol that should be applied to patients with epileptic seizures. Materials and Methods: In the study, patients who are admitted to the Manisa Celal Bayar University (MCBÜ) Hafsa Sultan Hospital Emergency Service with seizures and those hospitalized in other services and who are consulted at the MCBU Neurology Clinic during the treatment period are included. The total number of patients included in the study is 631. During the consultation of these patients, family history, etiological risk factors, clinical findings, seizure types, central imaging and EEGs, routine blood tests, neurological examinations are evaluated, and parameters related to seizure etiology and etiology are determined. Findings: The average age of the patients in the study is 47.6, and it is observed that male patients, 55.5% of the patients, have more frequent seizures than female patients. The most common psychiatric comorbidities are depressive disorder; Diabetes mellitus is the most common metabolic comorbidities; It is observed that the most common cardiac comorbidities are heart failure and post-CPR. The most common etiology is structural etiologies. Among the structural etiologies, CNS and other organ malignancies are the most common, infarcts and hemorrhages are the second and trauma is the third. It is observed that the most common patient group is the patients who have a seizure for the first time in their life and the most common seizure type is generalized seizures. Conclusions: In recent days, the incidence of newly diagnosed epilepsy is expected to continue to increase. For this reason, all diagnostic tools that enable us to determine the etiology, with anamnesis being the first, should be used and treatment orientation should be provided. In the literature, there are no studies conducted in a wide age range and population with all diagnostic methods before treatment in epileptic seizures.
