Abstract (EN)
"Hypertension" is one of the most common diseases, all over the world. There are many environmental and genetic factors that contribute to the occurrence of "hypertension". The natriuretic peptide receptor 3 (NPR3) gene is, one of genes that has association with "hypertension". There are several single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) that associate with "hypertension" according to genome-wide association studies (GWAS). The current study was conducted to investigate the relation between the "rs1173766" polymorphism of "NPR3 gene" and "hypertension" for the first time in a Turkish population. This study included 43 patients with "hypertension" vs 30 controls; the participants` samples were genotyped using Kompetitive Allelic-Specific PCR (KASP) method. The current study`s results revealed that there was significant differences between HT case and control groups in terms of age, serum creatinine, LDL, TG, TC, "SBP" and "DBP" (all the P˂0.05). Considering that T is the minor allele and it was observed that its frequency is low among the patients compared to the controls, it was concluded that T allele may be protective factor for "hypertension" in Turkish population.
