The population of Zile accident center in 1839 according to the population books

During the rule of the Ottoman Empire, a profound impartance was given to the order of registration system, therefore the records were kept delicately. Written documentation had been made in every field from agriculture, commerce, diplomacy, art, foundations to state organization. It is possible to come across the records of the population, which is one of the important elements for the existence of the state, in tahrir books and similar archive records. Firstly, through a law declared during the reign of Mahmud (1831), a population census was taken in which only the male population was counted for the purpose of recruiting soldiers and collecting taxes, and population books were created to keep the records. These censuses and books were renewed and updated in certain periods. As a result of these censuses taken in the 19th century, the settlements of the Zile district were determined as well as the physical characteristics of the people, the average age, family structure, occupational status and the disability status. Our study presents statistical and historical data that will shed light on the historical roots of today's Zile district in Tokat province. iş Along with these data, it also has the feature of being a genealogy book that will illuminate the roots of the surnames used by most of the people in the region and reveal the roots of the families. In this study, the population structure of the books registered with the codes Nfs.d 2507, Nfs.d 2508, Nfs.d 2512, Nfs.d 2513, and Nfs.d 2514 belonging to Zile District in 1839 and found in the Presidential Ottoman Archives were examined. The information on the Muslim and non-Muslim population in the notebook was translated into today's Turkish, and the population, administrative structure, economic and social structure of the region were tried to be revealed with tables and graphics in order to interpret the data obtained in a better way.
