Abstract (EN)

Aim: This study was conducted to develop a scale that evaluates the beliefs and tendencies of pregnant women regarding normal delivery and to evaluate the effect of mobile education given to based on health belief model (HBM) on normal delivery tendency in nulliparous pregnant women. Material and Method: The data of the study were obtained from pregnant women applied to Malatya Training Research Hospital Maternity and Children's Hospital between November 2019 - November 2020. The first stage of the study, which was carried out in two stages, was carried out as a methodological, and the second stage as a pretest-posttest control group experimental model. In the first stageThe Belief Scale for Normal Delivery (BSND) was developed with 737 pregnant women. Mobile education was given to based on the HBM regarding normal delivery for pregnant women in the experimental group the second stage of the study for 15 days. The data of the study were collected using "Pregnancy Introduction Form" and "BSND". Descriptive statistics, validity and reliability analysis, chi-square test, t test in dependent and independent groups were used in the analysis of the data. Results: BSND that consists of 24 items and 6 sub-dimensions, it is a reliable measurement tool that can be used in all pregnant women, regardless of the type of delivery with gravida. At the second stage of the study, it was determined that the BSND post-test total mean score was 89.90±14.10 in the experimental group and 78.80±12.65 in the control group, and the difference between the groups was statistically significant (p<0.001). In addition, it was observed that the post-test mean scores of the pregnant women in the experimental group in all sub-dimensions of BSND increased significantly compared to the control group (p<0.05). Conclusion: It was determined that BSND was a valid and reliable measurement tool for Turkish population and the education given to based on the HBM increase the belief and tendency regarding normal delivery for nullipar pregnant women.
