The investigation of the novels of Nur İçözü's the context of the children's literature

In this research, the children's novels of Nur İçözü were examined according to the basic elements and principles of children's literature and evaluated according to the views of the students. Novels are discussed in terms of subject, message ,characters, environment, language and expression. At the second stage, 72 students from the second grade of primary education were interviewed and the data obtained from the interviews were analyzed with descriptive analysis method. The research was carried out with the semi-structured interview form prepared by the researcher at the 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grade primary school students at the Osmangazi Secondary School in Geyve district of Sakarya in the 2017-2018 academic year. According to the information received from Nur İçözü, children's novels to be examined were determined. These books were read by the students and then the interview forms were given. The students were asked to answer the questions prepared in the context of the basic elements and principles of the children's literature in the form. It was tried to determine whether the novels were appropriate for the mentioned principles, both from the internal and external characteristics of the novels and from the point of view of the students. As a result of the study, it was found that the novels of Nur İçözü are generally appropriate to the level of the second grade students of elementary school, that they are based on the basic elements and principles of children's literature and can be recommended to the students.
