Abstract (EN)
In this thesis study, concepts of the countryside and the boredom are investigated by the analysis of Nuri Bilge Ceylan films. Accordingly, at first, the concept of the countryside in Turkey, its relationship with the center and its historical process are elaborated. Also the relationship between the countryside, urbanization and modernization is questioned. Subsequently, what exactly is boredom and how it is evaluated in psychology and philosophy are explained, thus the answers of these two questions are sought: how the concept of boredom has been identified with the countryside and what kind of connection is found between boredom and modernization. So these four films of Nuri Bilge Ceylan are analysed in this study: The Small Town (1997), Clouds of May (1999), Distant (2002) and The Wild Pear Tree (2018)
