The obesity and the risk of breast cancer in pre- and post-menopausal women in Northwest syria

This study investigates the connection between obesity and the risk of breast malignancies among women in Northwest Syria pre- and post-menopausal. Analysis was done for various parameters related to overweight, including BMI (the body mass index) and circumference of the waist, to determine their correlation with the risk of breast malignancies. The sample of this case-control study consisted of women pre- and post-menopausal from Northwest Syria, with data collected on pre-diagnosis BMI, diagnosis BMI, and waist circumference. The study found significant correlations between obesity-related parameters and the risk of breast tumors. Females of increased pre-diagnosis BMI and larger waist circumference exhibited an elevated risk of developing breast malignancies. In conclusion, obesity is a significant risk factor for developing breast cancer in women pre- and post-menopausal in Northwest Syria. Addressing this issue requires a multifaceted approach, including public health initiatives, policy changes, and ongoing research to decrease the occurrence of breast tumors and improve women's overall health in the region. Limitations such as a small sample size and reliance on self-reported data may affect the study's generalizability.
