Abstract (EN)

Obesty, in cats at later ages especially in neutered cats It is a common nutritional disorder. It is estimated that it affects one third of the cat population. One of the biggest problems of obesity is its association with other diseases. Obesity can cause various metabolic and clinical disorders in cats, such as insulin resistance, diabetes mellitus, heart disease, lameness and skin diseases. Therefore, obesity is of great importance in veterinary medicine. Oxidative stress is the formation of cellular damage in the organism as a result of the imbalance between oxidants and antioxidants in favor of the oxidant system, lipid peroxidation and release of free radicals/reactive oxygen products. If the organism's defense mechanisms (antioxidant mechanisms) against oxidative stress are insufficient, oxidative damage develops in the cells and impairments occur in the functions. It has a critical importance in the pathogenesis of many diseases. This mechanism is responsible for the etiology of many diseases such as obesity, aging process, cardiovascular diseases, cancer, sepsis, degenerative neurological diseases, kidney failure, infertility, muscle and liver diseases.Various heart diseases and heart failures can be seen in cats. These can occur due to both hereditary and acquired causes. One of the acquired causes is irregular nutrition and obesity.The aim of this thesis study is to evaluate the relationship between oxidative stress and heart failure in obese cats and to guide veterinarians in diagnosis, treatment and prevention in the field of veterinary medicine.
