The effect of segmental body fat distribution on static and dynamic plantar pressure in subjects with obesity

Abstract (EN)
This study was conducted to compare the static-dynamic plantar pressures of android obese, gynoid obese and normal weight cases. A total of 103 adult cases 43 android obese, 32 gynoid obese and 28 normal weight between the ages of 18 and 65 which provided the criteria for inclusion in the study were included. Static-dynamic plantar pressures of cases were evaluated with the 3D pedobarography device. It was found that there was no significant difference in the evaluation of static plantar pressure between android and gynoid obese groups (p>0.016), mean pressure (right p=0.001, left p<0.001), foot load (p<0.001), foot pressure surface (right p=0.005, left p=0.011), midfoot load percentage (p<0.001) and pressure surface (p=0.001) were more in android obese compared to normal weight however percentage of forefoot load (p<0.001) and pressure surface (right p<0.001, left p=0.001) were less, mean pressure (right p=0.004), percentage of midfoot load (p<0.001), pressure surface (right p=0.005, left p=0.001), and rearfoot pressure surface (right p=0,001) were more, foot load (p<0.001), percentage of forefoot load and pressure surface (p<0.001) were less in gynoid obese compared to normal weight. According to the evaluation of dynamic plantar pressure, it was found that the forefoot pressure surface of android (left p=0.004) was more than gynoid obese, bilateral mean pressure load, contact surface, percentage of midfoot load and pressure surface were more, percentage of bilateral forefoot load (p <0.001) and pressure surface (left p=0.003) were less in android obese than normal weight, mean pressure (p<0.001), contact surface (right p=0.015, left p=0.002), rearfoot pressure surface (left p=0.009), percentage of midfoot load and pressure (p<0.001) were more in gynoid obese compared to normal weight, however foot load, percentage of forefoot (p<0.001) and rearfoot load (right p=0.010, left p=0.002) were less in gynoid obese than normal weight. Our study showed that the static-dynamic plantar pressures of the android and gynoid obese were similar but increased compared to the normal weight.
